GB/T 713.3-2023: Steel Plate, Sheet and Strip for Pressure Equipment - Part 3: Low Alloy with Specified Low Temperature Properties
It was published on August 6, 2023, and became effective on March 1, 2024, replacing GB/T 713-2014. This standard applies to low-alloy steel plates and strips for pressure equipment operating at temperatures not lower than -40°C, with plate thickness ranging from 3mm to 250mm and strip thickness ≤25.4mm.
Key technical requirements include:
- Specified low-temperature performance for grades like Q345R and Q370R, mandating Charpy impact energy (KV2) ≥47J at -40°C;
- Strict chemical composition controls (e.g., carbon ≤0.20%, manganese 1.00–1.60%);
- Introduction of new grade Q420R;
- Delivery conditions limited to normalized or normalized+tempered;
- Mandatory 100% ultrasonic testing (NB/T 47013.3) and low-temperature impact testing (GB/T 229).
This standard addresses critical cryogenic applications, enhancing safety in extreme environments. When integrated with GB/T 713.1-2023 and GB/T 713.2-2023, it establishes a comprehensive technical framework for pressure equipment steels, enabling compliance with global standards (e.g., ASME, EN 10028) and strengthening China’s export competitiveness in the steel industry.
