GB/T 713.1 Steel Plate and Strip for Pressure Equipment - Part 1: General Requirements

This section serves as the foundational standard for the GB/T 713 series. Published on August 6, 2023, and effective from March 1, 2024, this standard was proposed by the China Iron and Steel Association and managed by the National Technical Committee on Steel Standardization. It was jointly drafted by Ansteel Corporation and other entities.

The standard specifies technical requirements for hot-rolled steel plates and strips used in pressure equipment (e.g., boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines). Key sections include:
1. Grade Designation: Revised system for clearer alloy element identification and specialized process markings (e.g., "ESR" for electroslag remelting).
2. Ordering Information: Standardized parameters for procurement.
3. Dimensions and Tolerances: Thickness tolerances follow GB/T 709-2019.
4. Technical Specifications: Covers mechanical properties (tested per GB/T 228.1), impact toughness (GB/T 229), and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements.
5. Inspection Rules: Defines sampling methods and compliance criteria.

Aligned with Parts 2–7 of the GB/T 713 series, this standard establishes a unified technical framework for pressure equipment steels. It enhances product consistency, supports advanced manufacturing practices, and facilitates international trade by harmonizing with global standards such as ASTM and EN.

Significance:
- Standardizes grade nomenclature for improved material traceability.
- Integrates advanced testing methodologies (e.g., NDT) to ensure structural integrity.
- Promotes industry-wide quality control and global market access for Chinese steel producers.

This standard is critical for manufacturers, inspectors, and engineers involved in pressure equipment design and fabrication, ensuring compliance with safety-critical applications.
